Get the Look
If I had to choose, I would say that my fashion icon is Taylor Tomasi Hill. Taylor was formerly the Style and Accessories Director at Marie Claire magazine and now the Creative Director for Moda Operandi. I have saved close to a hundred different pictures of her street style looks and find her mixture of pieces to be truly inspiring. For todays post I decided to focus on one of my favorite TTH outfits (which I also featured in my Winterize Your Neons post) and provide you with options to create this awesome look for yourself.

I must admit, my obsession with buying everything sparkly, printed or brightly colored means that I am very bad when it comes to investing in basic pieces. For example, I would much rather spend my money on a sequin jacket than a white button-down, but then I always end up needing the basic piece much more. One such basic item that I have been dying to get my hands on is a gold tank watch. After stalking different watches online for months I’ve decided that it is time to bite the bullet and finally snatch one up for myself. Here are some of my favorites:

Holiday Shopping: All That Glitters

After a recent shopping trip to Bloomingdale’s I was inspired to start the first in a series of Holiday-related posts that I’ll be including over the next couple of weeks. The entire store seemed to sparkle with party-worthy pieces that would be the perfect addition to any girl’s holiday wardrobe. For more casual wear, I saw adorable sweaters with metallic threading such as this one from J.Crew and this great one from ZARA. Paired with black jeans for daytime or a skirt and tights for a dressier option, these knits are a great way to include some subtle sparkle into your holiday ensemble.
For a more glamourous Holiday party look, I suggest investing in a great sequin skirt or top. These pieces will end up being much more versatile than an all-out sequin dress. They can be mixed and matched with different items in your wardrobe to create multiple looks. For example, you could pair this gorgeous sequin miniskirt from ZARA with a chunky sweater (like the model has on) for an unexpected easy-chic look OR dress it up with a silk tank and heels for a dressier option.
I also love the idea of taking an all-black ensemble that you’ve already worn to death and throwing on a great sequin jacket for an instant glamour boost. If you’re looking for something a bit more subtle than a sequin jacket, sparkling accessories can have the same effect. A great sequin purse, shoe, or scarf will dress up pretty much anything you pair them with.
Below I have included some adorable (and well-priced) options for those of you that are looking to add a little glamour to your look this winter.
Inspired by: CHANEL
If there is one thing I know for sure, it’s that Chanel will always be chic. The quilted purses and little tweed jackets that Coco Chanel made famous are still a huge part of Karl Lagerfeld’s collections to this day. Personally, I love the way that modern girls manage to work a classic Chanel-esque piece into their wardrobe while still maintaining a certain edge. The best way to achieve this look is by pairing your tweed with something unexpected. A pair of jeans, shorts, leather pants, or a graphic tee manage to create the perfect balance between ladylike and rock-n-roll. Accessorizing with chain necklaces and sturdy heels completes the look.

If you do decide to go all-out with a full tweed suit like Caroline Sieber did below, I suggest keeping the hemline short to help keep the look flirty instead of matronly.
