Fashion Forecast: Awards Season

I know that a lot of fashion sites have been making predictions about what the nominated actresses will be wearing this awards season. However with all the drama between actresses, stylists and designers, I personally think it is impossible to make an accurate prediction. So instead I decided to simply show you the gowns that I love and hope to see on the red carpet in the coming weeks.

Trend Forecast: Pastels

My absolute favorite trend for spring is anything and everything pastel. As image after image hit the web during fashion week, I became more and more excited when I realized that pastels were everywhere! From minty shades at DVF and Jenny Packham, to gorgeous lilacs at Versus and Philip Lim there is something out there for everyone.

1. Doo.Ri 2. DVF

3. Tibi 4. Rodarte

5. 3.1 Philip Lim 6. Versus

7. Jenny Packham 8. Chanel

I personally love the look of wearing multiple pastel shades together in one outfit. Check out these street-style interpretations of the trend.

For those of you who are just as in love with this trend as I am, I have provided a bunch of great, well-priced options that are perfect for adding some pastels to your look.

Chanel

If there is one thing I know for sure, it’s that Chanel will always be chic. The quilted purses and little tweed jackets that Coco Chanel made famous are still a huge part of Karl Lagerfeld’s collections to this day. Personally, I love the way that modern girls manage to work a classic Chanel-esque piece into their wardrobe while still maintaining a certain edge. The best way to achieve this look is by pairing your tweed with something unexpected. A pair of jeans, shorts, leather pants, or a graphic tee manage to create the perfect balance between ladylike and rock-n-roll. Accessorizing with chain necklaces and sturdy heels completes the look.

If you do decide to go all-out with a full tweed suit like Caroline Sieber did below, I suggest keeping the hemline short to help keep the look flirty instead of matronly.

For those of you who want the Chanel look at a real-girl price, check out some of the great options I found online. Happy shopping!
