Shades of Gray

Please excuse the rather cliché title of this post…I couldn’t help myself.
Now I know this Isn’t exactly the most groundbreaking of styling ideas, but there’s just something about the look of mixing different shades of gray that screams luxe. Every outfit suddenly looks more expensive, plus you can get the look simply by mixing and matching pieces you already own! (Although if you’re looking for some newness, check out my gray picks from Zara down below). Here are some examples of real-girls (plus the not-so-real Miranda Kerr) sporting this monochromatic look.

Black on Black on Black

Guys, this New York weather is just NOT OK. Every morning I wake up freezing and completely devoid of outfit inspiration. Luckily, this IS New York, the city where wearing all-black isn’t boring, its completely chic. I especially love mixing different textures to give my monochrome look a little more visual interest. Check out these super cool girls and their interpretation of the all-black look.

Spring Trend to Try Now: Metallics

Every year, as I watch the next season’s looks come down the runway, I get so excited about the new trends that I can’t imagine waiting another second to wear them. Weather appropriate or not, I find myself looking for ways to wear spring trends in the winter or fall trends in the summer. Luckily, the spring 2014 metallic trend CAN be totally wearable in the winter! Check out some street style inspiration below as well as some examples from the Spring 2014 RTW runways.

Runway to Real Life: Louis Vuitton Fall 2013

One of the biggest trends to emerge from the Fall 2013 runways was the lingerie-inspired looks at Louis Vuitton. Marc Jacobs created one gorgeous look after another, infusing lace, satin, velvet, sequins, and knits into a cohesive collection that had editors and buyers swooning.

My favorite way to incorporate this trend into my wardrobe is by pairing lingerie-inspired pieces with big chunky knits. Anything too sexy is a major no-no. I think these girls styled the look perfectly.

Below I’ve included some of my favorite pieces from Zara that will allow anyone to replicate this look on their own.

Cool-Girl Must Have: The Graphic Tee

There’s something about a graphic tee that instantly makes any outfit more cool. It adds something unexpected to your look, and can go with pretty much anything. Check out how these girls rock their favorite graphic tees and take a look at some of the options I pulled from my favorite Soho store Aritzia.

Current Obsession: Slip-On Sneakers

It started, as all the best trends do, with Phoebe Philo at Celine. She somehow managed to make something as simple and common as a slip-on sneaker, into one of the chicest and most in-demand accessories of the season. Her versions, in plaid, leopard pony hair, and alligator to name a few, are definitely lustworthy, but there are plenty of lower priced options out there as well. I personally have these black pony hair beauties from Steve Madden and wear them with anything and everything. Check out more options below.

Get the Look

The moment we’ve been waiting for has finally arrived! The Isabel Marant show walked in Paris earlier today and I can assure you it did not disappoint! The country-inspired looks showed a modern take on the old west, and managed to create a perfect combination of classic cowgirl and parisian chic. One look from the collection stood out for me in particular because of its wearability both now, and in the fall.

Go Buy Now: Printed Pants

While I usually reserve my favorite prints for tops and dresses, lately I have become completely enamored with chic, straight leg pants emblazoned with pretty florals.

This look was all over the Spring 2012 runways. As well as many of the bloggers and fashion editors that were in New York for fashion week.

1. Alexander Wang 2. Peter Som

3. Proenza Schouler 4. Chloe

5. DKNY 6. J.Crew

On the runways, floral pants were either paired with neutral tops or head-to-toe prints. Either way works! Check out some great options below
